Dragon House wowed us earlier in the week with his new trailer prepare the ground for a game of thrones prequel so full of dragons, civil war and political intrigue that, well, you’d be convinced it’s a game of thrones prequel. But while we had to wait compared to the people who were at Comic-Con yesterday, we finally have an even bigger look.
Dragon House brought the cast and crew and a new extended trailer to its panel yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con, but for us commoners closer to Flea Bottom than the Red Keep that is Hall H have been waiting to see this that there was new for the trailer. .. so far, that is.
The fact that it’s not entirely new means that what we get is mostly just more than what we already have, but what we got was good enough. Matt Smith in a dubious Daemon Targaryen wig, at the heart of a powdery political succession game? Check. said powder keg exploding violently throughout the Targaryen Civil War? Check. Dragons roaring, flying, breathing fire and generally being quite impressive and horrifying in equal measure? Check, check and Check.
Dragon House has a lot to do to come out of the shadow of game of thrones– especially the way it ended. What we’ve seen so far at least sets the stage for it to have the potential to do so. All it will take is a little fire and blood.
Dragon House hits HBO and HBO Max on August 21.
