If you love movies, or animals, or both, Saturday will be the perfect day to visit Golden Ticket Cinemas in Madisonville, as they’ll be teaming up with the Hopkins County Humane Society to host a pet adoption event. , from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Golden Ticket Cinemas General Manager Carla Thomas explained how the idea for this event came about.
“With the upcoming release of the movie ‘Super Pets’, I thought it was a good time to partner with the Hopkins County Humane Society to host the pet adoption event, just like in the movie Krypto the Super-Hound and Superman are inseparable best friends,” she said.
“Carla, contacted me about the event. She said a new ‘DC League of Super Pets’ movie was due out July 29th and asked if we might be interested in setting up an event in combination with his release. We were thrilled to oblige,” said Dustin Potenza, executive director of the Hopkins County Humane Society.
Some of the adoptable pets will be on display for those looking to add a furry friend to the family.
“We have never had an event with the local cinema, but we anticipate it will be a great success. We will have adoptable animals present, however, they will not be inside theaters, but inside from the lobby, right in front of the theater, inside the mall,” Potenza said.
The Humane Society will be giving away half-price microchips at Saturday’s event. According to Potenza, the importance of having your pets microchipped is that if they get lost, the animal is more likely to be reunited with its family.
Important information on pet care, heartworm prevention and pet vaccinations will be provided. You will also be able to meet some of the local pet sitters, who will be on hand.
“We will have items that will be raffled off, all proceeds will go to HCHS,” Thomas said. “We want everyone to be a part of this event, from pets, families and kids, so we’ve included fun activities like a coloring contest, arts and crafts area, scavenger hunt treasure at 3:30 p.m. throughout the mall and
you’ll meet and greet Superman on the red carpet, so don’t forget your camera. This is the first event Golden Ticket Cinemas has partnered with in the community and we hope it will be a great success.
“The shelter is currently operating at full capacity, so we implore our community to come and enjoy the event and maybe even find a new four-legged best friend to bring home! We will also accept monetary and physical donations including dog and cat food, litter, blankets, towels, etc.
On Saturday, Golden Ticket will also offer small popcorn and small drinks for $3.00 each. Be sure to check their website for what’s on and local show times.
