Dhaka: Vietnam Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkish Airlines. Under the deal, the two flag carriers are expected to expand their cooperation in passenger and cargo transport and explore the possibility of code sharing on passenger flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) and Istanbul.
On this occasion, Le Hong Ha, Chairman and CEO of Vietnam Airlines, said, “We are very happy to maintain and expand cooperation with Turkish Airlines. The cooperation between the two flag carriers will bring great benefits to our passengers, promote air connectivity, economic and cultural exchanges between Vietnam, Turkey, Europe and the Middle East region. It is also Vietnam Airlines’ effort to strengthen global cooperation, expand the route network, revive the economy after the pandemic and seize new development opportunities.
In addition, airlines are expected to cooperate more closely in the field of cargo transport through the establishment of a codeshare partnership, which is expected to come into force in 2023.
Levent Konukcu, Chief Investment and Technology Officer of Turkish Airlines, said, “We value expanding our cooperation with Vietnam Airlines for both passengers and cargo. Our mutual desire and expectation is to enrich relationships in many areas and provide more opportunities for our passengers. As Turkish Airlines, with this intention, we are happy to sign this Memorandum of Understanding which will ultimately serve to deepen the relationship between our countries.
