Yoghurt…Curd…which is the best?


Yogurt is a widely used food product nowadays. It has also become one of the most sold food items in our stores during this period of isolation. 

What is curd? Curd is a fermented milk. Yogurt is prepared by adding live bacteria to processed milk and keeping it for several hours. These bacteria convert lactose, the sugar in milk, into lactic acid, turning the milk into a liquid. This gives it a different taste. 

What’s in Yogurt?Yoghurt is fermented by two bacteria, Lacotobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. It is a probiotic. It is rich in protein, fat, calcium and B vitamins. Compared to curd, yogurt is high in protein. Low in carbohydrates. Yoghurt is a good choice for those who want to lose weight, those who are allergic to dairy products, and those who want to control blood pressure. 

Types of Yogurt…* Low fat Yogurt – This is made with 2% milk or skimmed milk.* Kefir – This is yogurt that is sipped cold. It is rich in probiotics.* Greek Yogurt – This is very popular. It is high in protein and low in calcium. It is dense.* Frozen Yogurt (Frozen Yogurt) – It can be consumed as an alternative to ice cream.* Non Dairy Yogurt – Soya or almond milk or coconut milk is used for its preparation. 

* How to make yogurt at home?First boil the milk thoroughly at 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Then cool it to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of store-bought yogurt to this. Then mix well. After that keep it alone for 8 hours. Now the yogurt will be ready. Keep it in the fridge for a while and then consume it. 

* What is the difference between curdled yogurt? By adding some whey to the milk, it naturally ferments and turns into curd. So you can easily prepare yogurt at home. But making yogurt requires live bacteria. Therefore, it can be prepared only in food factories. Yogurt, which contains many nutrients including calcium, has an important place in the Indian diet. 

* What are the benefits of yogurt?Obesity due to its high protein content; Reduces and repairs muscles. Calcium helps in bone growth. Due to the presence of gut microflora, it kills the pathogens in the intestine and improves intestinal immunity.
